Everyone is Selling Something

I have learned in life that everyone has something to sell
And in doing so what they have must take the appearance of meaning well
Everyone wants to convince someone to follow a certain way
Everyone wants someone to hear what they say
Or do what they do, some false and pretentious - others genuine and true
But how many are true? How many authentic?
In this frantic, homicidal world of hate there's a lot of debate
The debate is ongoing in the mind and it always involves why
Why should I buy what you have? How do I know it will do me fittingly?
Why should I believe what you say is the truth or the real deal?
Like really real or is it just an imminent steal?
And are you willingly throwing me to the sharks just so you can gain some satisfaction?
Sell me something good as you should and I'll be in a good mood
I mean we all want good at the end of the day but some get their good by false trade
They dress up their words so well that it's hard to tell of what it is made
In the end, it's mostly about getting paid
And to do so the words must appeal
After all, it don't matter that what they are saying isn't real
All that matters is that the deal is sealed
"Guaranteed satisfaction, so give me a shout"
"Hear me out, I know what I'm about"
"Success is a must if in my method you trust"
"Come and see me turn ash to dust."
They play on emotions too because for most
Emotions become the Holy Ghost
"I know how you feel so you're not alone"
"I've been there too, our lives are clones."
Of course, at the root of all that is said
Is either for life or to make you dead
Still who cares of what it does except the person who buys or tries?
And yet there are even those who can appreciate lies
So there's a market for every kind of sale
Whether old, new, false or true
With many different kinds of people to sell to
Some who care and some who don't
Some who'll use what is bought and some who won't
And some who buy to sell again at a steeper price
Or maybe give it away free just to be nice
And we know what it means to sell it for free
All about throwing it out there for anybody
So you see life is all about convincing others
Of something, somewhere, somehow, somewhy
And at the end of it all, everyone tries
