Highs and Lows

Life is a road of hills and valleys
A musical journey from highs to lows
Sometimes we're up and we feel so empowered
But then comes the times when we feel down below
If the times of the low, we stay for a while
We learn to accept them with peace and a smile
Then times of the rising are gratefully taken
The value of struggle in the extra mile
Sometimes the struggle is that of the money
At times it is social or achieving one's goals
Maybe there is something or someone defying
But you keep the same patterns or people - denying
Do the same things and expecting a difference
Not trying new methods for obstacles - hence
Some find themselves stuck in a cycle of failure
They stay at a standstill not going further
But others will try all the ways they can't find
And in time they do gradually exit the grind
Thus when the high road is finally covered
The memory of struggle is worthy of mind
And in new times of low, the experience has taught
That no matter the blockade, we'll find the way up
